Goals of the Pre-Academic Program

Preparation for first degree studies in engineering in an academic framework

  • In the framework of these courses, emphasis is placed on preparation for courses in mathematics and physics in the first year at the College, which go beyond preparations for matriculation exams administered by the Ministry of Education in these subjects.
  • During the year, students learn English as preparation for first degree studies as is customary at the College, beyond the preparations for matriculation exams in English administered by the Ministry of Education.
  • During the year-long studies, students of the Pre-Academic Program are hosted at the College’s laboratories: the Industry and Management Laboratory, the Electronics Laboratory, the Communications Laboratory and the Advanced Materials Laboratory.  Consultations are also held for students with heads of the College’s departments regarding continued studies.
  • During the study year, tours are also held at high-tech industrial plants in Jerusalem.

Preparation for matriculation sponsored by the Ministry of Education in English, mathematics and physics

The courses at the Pre-Academic Program are specially structured to prepare the student in the best manner possible for matriculation exams.  Pre-Academic Program's lecturers have been selected especially for their superior teaching abilities and their experience in preparing for matriculation exams.  High scores in mathematics, physics and English increase the student’s chances to be accepted at the College and enable him/her to apply to the College in several acceptance tracks.

Additional acceptance track for engineering studies at the College

During the preparatory course of studies and upon its completion, students will be tested through the College’s internal exams.  Success in these tests will facilitate acceptance at all of the College’s study departments, even for students who have not taken the matriculation exams of the Ministry of Education, if they are entitled to a matriculation certificate.

Tuition costs at the Pre-Academic Program

Tuition is approximately NIS 12,000.  The College has an extensive economic assistance program with tuition grants and monthly subsistence grants.  In addition, use can be made of military service grants, if necessary.
