The College tries to bring students to a state in which they have most of the information needed to integrate into practical work in various fields, in both high-tech and low-tech industry. In order to reach this level, the College provides practical courses such as a robotics laboratory, methods for systems engineering and an engineering project, which is as close as possible to a real application.
The purpose of the final project that we performed was mapping the supply chain of the “Netafim Hatzerim” [company] and making it more efficient, while focusing on foreign customer orders – the value chain. (Netafim is a corporation that specializes in providing irrigation solutions and manufactures drippers.) We focused on the plant at Hatzerim where most of its work occurs in the supply of orders to subsidiaries that constitute 85% of Netafim’s export volume.
At Hatzerim, we focused on bodies that contribute to the value chain in the sense of the supply of customer orders in outgoing logistics. The aim was to understand the processes at Hatzerim and to map them while identifying problems that caused the value chain to be less efficient in its supply to the customer. During this mapping, 80 problems were identified that were allocated according to the Pareto method into three levels of severity and into five primary fields.
Using this methodology, these 80 problems were compiled into five principal problems for which we found original solutions, to which we then applied engineering and economic analysis to determine the feasibility of investing in these solutions.
Hagit: I am now working with the Nice Company, responsible for managing orders arriving from United States. In this framework, I am responsible for managing orders from the customer through supply to the customer via the entire supply chain.
Yuval: I am currently Operations and Information Systems Manager for a Wall Street company of the Kidum Group and am a member of the company management.
