

| In June 2009, as the Jerusalem College of Engineering (JCE) held its Board of Governors meeting, six new members joined the 49 existing ones at a special meeting, marking the 10th anniversary of the College. This was a momentous occasion for an additional reason. Among those joining JCE’s Board were 4 people from the U.S. – members of JCE’s newly formed North American Leadership Committee, 3 of which came to Israel and were present at the meeting.

Justice Yaakov Bezalel | Born, raised, and educated in Jerusalem, Justice Yaakov Bezalel was a lawyer for several years before becoming a judge. Justice Bezalel served as a judge in Israel’s Magistrates’ Courts and in Jerusalem’s District Court. He later became a mediator and arbitrator in civil law.
Justice Bezalel has chaired numerous national committees, influencing legal policies regarding compensation and rehabilitation for the handicapped, the appointment of legal consultants by governmental agencies and the mentally retarded. |
| Zvi Gabay, former Israeli ambassador |
Iraqi-born Zvi Gabay held several key positions in Israel’s Foreign Ministry, after receiving a BA in Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies and Islamic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Gabay started out as Consul in the Consulates General of Israel in Philadelphia and San Francisco. With the establishment of diplomatic ties with Egypt, Mr. Gabay was appointed as the first political counselor in the Israeli Embassy in Cairo. He was later appointed as the Director of the Egypt Department in the Foreign Ministry in Israel. Mr. Gabay also served as Consul General to Australia in Sydney after which he was appointed as Israel's first Resident Ambassador in Dublin. Mr. Gabay subsequently held the position of Deputy Director General in the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, in charge of Asia and the Pacific.
Mr. Gabay has published many articles about the Middle East and other subjects, and also translates modern Arabic poetry. Today, having retired from Israel’s Foreign Ministry, Mr. Gabay lectures in pubic and academic institutions.

| Yuval Malinsky, CEO of Vigorous Mind, Inc. |
Mr. Malinsky has had 25 years of experience in software and healthcare technology in the U.S., Europe, and Israel. He was founder and CEO/Managing Director of three software and software services companies and has worked as a business consultant to Fortune 500 companies, academic institutions and medical device companies.
Mr. Malinsky was a mentor at M.I.T. Venture Mentoring Service and taught a graduate course in Emerging Technologies in Healthcare at Northeastern University SPCS. In addition, he developed a Health Informatics Master’s program for Northeastern University.
Yuval Malinsky lives in the U.S., but his ties to Israel are strong. In fact, as a former resident of Israel, he is also a retired Major in the IDF. Currently, Mr. Malinsky serves as President of the New England-Israel Business Council. Mr. Malinsky has an M.B.A. from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and a B.A. in computer science and economics from Bar-Ilan University in Israel.

| Avishai (Avi) Nevel, President and owner of Nevel International, LLC. | Avishai (Avi) Nevel is an inventor and holds numerous U.S. and international patents and has lectured worldwide on the subject of quality control. His company’s laboratory equipment is used worldwide by leading fiber producers and yarn manufacturers, manufacturers of medical textiles, universities and research institutions, and he has received multiple prestigious awards, including the U.S. Presidential E Star Award, which is the highest U.S. award for export, and Rhode Island Exporter of the Year 2000.
Mr. Nevel presently owns and runs an international consulting company, Nevel International, LLC. He is very active in Israeli-American affairs in the state of Rhode Island. Mr. Nevel serves as Director and is on the Executive Committee of the New England Israel Business Council (NEIBC), and is on the Board for Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. He is also Chairman of the Israel Sub-Committee for the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and assists the Israeli Consul and the Consulate staff in Boston with Rhode Island affairs.

| Dr. Daniel Serfaty, Chairman and CEO of Aptima, Inc., headquartered in Boston | Dr. Serfaty established and implemented an ambitious vision for Aptima as the premier Human-Centered Engineering business in the world. In addition to his corporate management and governance duties, his current work involves the technical leadership of interdisciplinary scientific projects for several U.S. government agencies and private industries in conjunction with academic, industrial and government teams. These efforts aim at optimizing factors that drive human and organizational performance and integrating humans and technologies in large-scale socio-technical systems.
Dr. Serfaty is also part of the leadership of various technology leadership forums, and serves on the Board of Directors of small technology businesses, and on Senior Advisory Boards of academic and non-profit institutions.
Although Dr. Serfaty lives in Boston, his strong ties to Israel are evident. In fact, he received his Masters of Science in aerospace engineering at the Technion. |

In addition to joining JCE’s North American Leadership Committee and Board of Governors, Mitchell Shelowitz’s professional involvement with Israel spans 12 years and includes being Co-Chairman and Co-Founder of the Israel Chapter of the New York State Bar Association, Section of International Law and Practice, International Division; former President and Founder of the Association of Corporate Counsel Israel (ACCI); and a former Adjunct Professor of Contract Law at the University of East London School of Law’s Israel campus.
