Mathematics
Studies in mathematics prepare students for matriculation exams at the level of 4 or 5 study units. In addition to preparations for the matriculation exams, emphasis is placed on studies of mathematics required in engineering subjects.
English
English studies prepare students for matriculation exams at a level of 4 or 5 study units. Placement in groups will be made on the basis of English level upon entry into the Preparatory School. Together with studies toward the matriculation exam, preparations are provided for academic English studies. It may be possible to also pass the tests beyond the levels of English as required at the College through the general exemption level. At the conclusion of the preparatory course, the student’s English level will be determined prior to his/her acceptance of the College.
Academic writing and reading
The objectives of this course are to provide skills in the critical reading of articles in engineering and the exact sciences and to provide skills required for scientific composition.
Physics
Studies in physics prepare students for testing at a level of 3 study units in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s matriculation exam. The study material includes all preparatory subjects for the matriculation exam as well as additional material appropriate for engineering studies at the College
Computer literacy
Proficiency in computer applications is essential for success in academic studies and in engineering work. This course will teach MS-Office software applications, the use of Internet and Web portals, the use of operating systems and other subjects, in addition to instilling a general approach to independent work and application of computerized tools.
The courses at the Preparatory School grant an exemption from the following courses studied during the first year of the College: Mathematics Refresher Course, Basic Mathematics, Preparation for Physics and Computer Proficiency. Also, during these academic studies, preparations are made prior to English studies at the academic level. At the conclusion of the study year, tests are held to determine the student’s level of English.
A student for whom an exemption is approved from a pre-academic course (at least 4 study hours) by the Curriculum Committee can take a parallel course in the framework of one of the College departments
