National Student Assistance Loans

Students at the College are also entitled to benefit from the loan and grant fund for students from the Ministry of Education & Culture.  Loans are provided by Bank Leumi, which was awarded a tender by the Council for Higher Education.  The College participates in the payment of interest on the loans.  Reimbursement of the loans begins one or two years following the completion of studies.  Full details regarding the loans can be found in the College’s tuition booklet detailed on the College’s web site and at the dean of student’s office.

Jerusalem loans

In cooperation with the Jerusalem Development Authority and with the assistance of government funding, special loans are granted to students studying in Jerusalem.  This is done in the framework of a decision to develop and strengthen Jerusalem.  This loan becomes a grant on the condition that the student will live and work in Jerusalem following completion of studies.

Loan amount: NIS 8000.  60% of students at the College received this loan during the 2005-2006 academic year.

These loans are intended for students studying the following fields:

  1. Studies in technological fields – engineering, computer sciences and information systems for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
  2. Studies in scientific fields – mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry for master’s degrees.
  3. Students studying in the framework of military preliminary studies will not be eligible for these loans.

This program is intended to encourage students to remain and work in Jerusalem, as well as to encourage studies in Jerusalem in these defined fields.

Living expense scholarships

In the framework of its decision to develop and strength Jerusalem, government funds have been received intended to provide scholarships for living expenses for students renting in the center of Jerusalem.  These scholarships are designated for students studying for a bachelors or master’s degree in one of the academic institutions in Jerusalem and living in the center of Jerusalem, whether independently or with others.

The loan amount is approximately NIS 6,000 per year divided into two payments.

The proposed program is to provide a scholarship conditioned on living in a rented apartment.  Those entitled to the scholarship are:

  1. Living in the center of Jerusalem – according to the list of streets detailed on the Jerusalem Development Authority site (compatible with the borders of responsibility of the Eden Company – Jerusalem Center Development Company).
  2. Students studying for a bachelors or master’s degree at an institution funded by the Council for Higher Education with a minimum 70% scope of studies.
  3. The budget will be apportioned among students registered and found to be eligible within 30 days of the opening of the date of registration.  Students will not receive a budget beyond a ceiling as determined.  If an amount remains in the budget, it will be allocated to students on a first-come first-served basis.
